Ten years ago on Pescadero beach I fell into a world of endless change A timeless stream of innocence and light Where sand danced dreams of mountains And stars sang softly to their lovers in the night
I pulled myself with every cell of being Back to this world of hardened things Where stars are silent and sand is desolate and still Where time progresses logically from day to night
And sometimes I long to see that other place The cascading singing light that beckons and transforms me And I cannot keep the shapes of things solid and right And I cannot sieze the smooth geometry of being, Keep it separate from the wonder of that night
