Her heart was the gentle lilac

Her heart was the gentle lilac
Fragrant in the sun
And the broad sweet fields
Of meadow grass
Spring soft and spongy wet
And the granite bottoms
Of ancient stream beds
Washed clean of fragile sediment
And the water rushing young
And sparkling
Reaching for that frozen
Singular moment of being
Before crashing ten thousand feet
Into oblivion
