What can you do with a blackberry vine?
What can you do with a blackberry vine? When you pull it out with bloody hands, It slithers through your moss at night And climbs your apple tree.
You cut it back with flint-hard knives; It dives into a pool of ivy, where Gone to earth, it travels thirty feet And splits apart your redwood fence.
What can you do to a blackberry vine? What will make it surrender its wicked ways? What will make it surrender to your will? Nothing, nothing. It will follow you forever.
Let it give you flowers in the spring, And cover your grief in summer Let it bear you fruit in autumn And weave you into winter until you have no eyes to care.
