Beloved and bereft
You smile as I breathe in your scent, I know You want to dance across my smooth surface Swirl and tease my slowly waking soul, You command me and I bow, we perform The third act of our forbidden love We count our journey in hours Days are what we'll never have I'll never sleep in your arms, or wake To your wild, conquering eyes This gift is fleeting - I see our end at night Alone in the dark, willing time to stop, I mark each lonely minute, I multiply, I subtract and carry over. I divide my life into moments of here and gone, Beloved and bereft.
