Barren
She was barren, so she had to buy roses and fat daffodils and line the pots side by side for thirty feet across her back porch fence
The flowers gave her all the love the crazy man who was her husband couldn't, each color a shade of passion and emotion denied her
The flowers were her only poems their scents evoked as with a written word, the memory of another life before she reached this desert
